A picturesque market town in Cumbria is set to gain a new bingo venue. Currently, the nearest bingo club to Cockermouth is Opera Bingo in Workington, which is a 15-minute drive away. However, planning permission has recently been granted to allow for a new bingo and entertainment centre which will take over the former Conservative Club on the town’s Main Street.
The chairman of Cockermouth’s Chamber of Trade has expressed his delight as the venue will offer “something new which we have not got in town”. In late September 2022, the owners of the new venue held an open day to allow locals the chance to find out more about their plans. However, an opening date has yet to be confirmed.
